A spring trip out my Combo van to Victoria bridge and then to Roade Cutting. It was a particularly busy and varied Saturday morning.

86259 'Les Ross/Peter Pan' leads the 1Z86 07.10 Euston to Carlisle 'Cumbrian Mountain Express past Victoria Bridge in Northamptonshire. The electric hauled portion of the railtour gave way to steam haulage for the southward leg of the return journey from Carlisle to Crewe with haulage provided by 8P 4-6-2 46233 'Duchess of Sutherland'.

66105, 02.19 Peak Forest-Bletchley, Victoria bridge
66105 leads the 02.19 Peak Forest to Bletchley ballast train past Victoria Bridge just south of Roade on the WCML. It is not common to see this working on this route, it usually travels via the MML crossing to Bletchley via the Marston Vale line from Bedford.

350370, 350103 & 350260, LM 07.54 Birmingham New Street-London Euston (2Y56), Victoria bridge
A twelve-car Desoro combination made up of 350370, 350103 and 350260; an example of each of the series of these ultra reliable units. The train is seen passing Victoria bridge just south of Roade on the WCML as the 07.54 Birmingham New Street to Euston.

66744, 06.16 Burton-ot-Wetmore sidings-London Euston ECS (5Z45), Victoria bridge
66744 'Crossrail' leads a random set of Mk. II stock, mainly composed of ex. Virgin coaches, past Victoria bridge south of Roade. This was the 5Z45 06.16 Burton-ot-Wetmore to London Euston ECS move . This stock was used later in the day to carry Spurs supporters to Liverpool for their Premiere League clash.

37422 & 68012, 06.50 Crewe Gresty Bridge-Wembley LEs, Victoria bridge
37422 and 68012 form the 06.50 Crewe Gresty Bridge to Wembley light engine move. Unfortunately, I did not quite position the locomotives quite right with the rear end of the brand new Chiltern liveried class 68 hidden by the stanchion.

47245 & 47580, outward leg of The Cathedrals Express, 08.14 London Euston-Chester (1Z61), Victoria bridge
The two class 47s leading the The cathedrals Express from Euston to Chester (as far as Crewe) past Victoria bridge could not be more different! Leading is West Coat's 47245 in their drab maroon livery but at least some yellow mini-snow ploughs brighten it up a bit! Tucked in behind is privately owned 47580 'County of Essex' in BR blue with the huge union flag on the side; it's a shame that they were not the other way around. Brush power led the train as far as Crewe where the passengers were treated to onward haulage to Chester behind 45699 'Galatea' via a reversal at Shrewsbury.

350107 & 350116, LM 10.33 Birmingham New Street-London Euston (1W10), Roade Cutting
London Midland's 10.33 Birmingham New Street to Euston is worked through Roade Cutting by 350107 and 350116. It's still a little too early in the year for the sun to have come round by this time (11.00) to illuminate the facing side of the train.

86101, 11.19 London Euston-Liverpool Lime Street footex (1Z85), Roade Cutting
A rare mainline outing for GBRF's 86101 'Sir William A Stanier FRS'. It is seen carrying Spurs supporters from London to Merseyside as the 11.19 Euston to Lime Street. A pretty evenly matched game ensued at Anfield with Coutinho putting Liverpool in the lead at the start of the second half with Kane equalising a short time later. The train is seen passing through Roade Cutting composed of ex. Virgin West Coast Mk. II stock.
