A ride out on my bike from home to Bradford Junction in order to see The Severn Choppers Express hauled by a pair of class 20s. It was a little unusual to have a railtour passing on a Sunday, luckily it was a smashing day.

47140, 09.37 Bristol Temple Meads-Weymouth, Bradford-on-Avon station
On my way to Bradford Junction, I stopped off at Bradford-on-Avon station. As it was a Sunday morning it was very quiet, but I did manage to capture 47140 leading the 09.37 Bristol to Weymouth composed of a long set of Mk. I stock. 47140 survived another ten years in service before colliding with 47106 resulting in them both being condemned. The pair were cut-up by Vic Berry at his infamous scrapyard in Leicester.

20175 & 20156, outward leg of The Severn Choppers Express, London Paddington-South Wales, Bradford South Junction
Having left Paddington and travelled via Reading, Bassingstoke, Salisbury and Westbury, the railtour passes Bradford South Junction heading for Bristol and on to South Wales. On this leg of the 'tour, it is being led by 20175 and 20156 running in their most common formation, nose to nose. Even though this location is called Bradford Junction, it is in-fact on the outskirts of Wiltshire's county town, Trowbridge being some three miles from Bradford-on-Avon.

20175 & 20156, outward leg of The Severn Choppers Express, London Paddington-South Wales, Bradford South Junction
20175 and 20156 lead The Severn Choppers Express railtour from London Paddington to South Wales via the L&SWR route. It is about to pass Bradford South Junction taking the line to the left on towards Bristol via the glorious Avon Valley route. In the distance to the right, Bradford Junction signal box can be seen that controlled the large triangular junction. After its foray to South Wales, the 20s led the railtour to Gloucester where 37236 and 37291 took over for the return to Paddington via the Golden Valley and the GWML.
