8572, 10.30 Sheringham-Holt, Weybourne station
I converted this image to black and white as it was a dull morning with very flat lighting; this format improves things! Ex. LNER B12 8572 arrives at Weybourne station with the 10.30 Sheringham to Holt service. The footbridge seen here was removed from Stowmarket station when the electrification wires were installed and now does a good job here at Weybourne.

M56352 & M51188, 10.35 Holt-Sheringham, Weybourne station
A black and white image has really aged this image nicely on the approach to Weybourne station. It shows M56352 and M51188 arriving working the 10.35 Holt to Sheringham service. Both the signals here are ex. GE wooden somersault examples that make a great noise when they are operated.

8572, 10.30 Sheringham-Holt, Weybourne station
Ex. LNER B12 4-6-0 8572 gets noisily under-way from Weybourne station with the 10.30 Sheringham to Holt working. It was a damp morning and the B12 had one or two slips on the greasy rails, the driver was ready and got it under control as it picked up speed for the assault of Kelling Bank ahead.

53809, LE test run, Weybourne station
I was happily sipping some coffee served from Weybourne's buffet when the signalman pulled off the up home. I was surprised as no trains were due. Then, ex S&DR 2-8-0 7F 53809 arrived from Sheringham as a light engine move. Evidently, it was on a test run as part of its overhaul in preparation for a return to traffic next summer season.

The Duke, 15.50 Pinewoods-Wells Harbour, Pinewoods station
After a visit to Wells-next-the-sea we took a walk along the sea wall path to Pinewoods and the beach. My wife insisted that she could not walk back due to her recent illness (fair point I suppose!) so we took the lovely Wells Harbour Railway from Pinewoods back to Wells. Here, our return train arrives at Pinewoods with the relatively new (built in 2104) diesel 'The Duke' leading. The ten and a quarter inch gauge line opened in 1976 and has gone through several owners since and its fortunes have waxed and wained.

The Duke, running round, Wells Harbour station
Having brought us the 1 100 metre from Pinewoods, 0-6-0 diesel, 'The Duke' has detached from the stock and is running round to return again from Wells Harbour station. The railway claims to hold the record of being the first railway of its gauge (or any smaller gauge) to operate a scheduled timetable passenger service, it operates daily from May day to the end of September and during this holiday week in October.
