68011, CH 13.10 London Marylebone-Birmingham Moor Street (1R33, 17L), London Marylebone station
Looking very smart in its Chiltern Mainline livery 68011 waits at Marylebone to work the 13.10 to Birmingham Moor Street. This is a comfortable way to make the hour and half journey between central London and central Birmingham. I am pleased that Chiltern have stuck with the locomotive hauled model for some of their trains and in 2018 it is an idea that other TOCs have shown that they are interested in returning to.

165002 & 165015, CH 12.43 London Marylebone-Banbury (1U31, RT), London Marylebone station
Sitting at platform four at Marylebone is our train back to King's Sutton. Due to the complete closure of Euston we were forced to take the Chiltern Line that involved a short drive between home and King's Sutton. 165002 and 165015 were working the 1U31 12.43 Marylebone to Banbury. These units were smart and in good condition throughout, the Wifi was excellent too!

Class 168, CH 12.57 Marylebone-Aylesbury Vale Parkway (2V32, RT), 168324, CH 12.46 Marylebone-Gerrards Cross (2G32, RT) & 165002 & 165015, CH 12.43 Marylebone-Banbury (1U31, RT), London Marylebone station
Platforms four, five and six, shown in this view, were opened in in 2006 and dramatically improved the capacity of Marylebone station. In this scene, a variety of class 168 and 165 Turbostars wait to form various trains. From left to right, the 12.57 to Aylesbury Vale parkway, the 12.46 to Gerrards Cross and the 12.43 to Banbury. This final train, composed of 165002 and 165015, my wife, son and I took home to King's Sutton.

66004, 09.37 Dollands Moor-DIRFT via GWML & Birmingham (6M45), Kings Sutton station
A bit of a grab shot at King's Sutton station but a rare working for the Chiltern Line. Due to the closure of the WCML at Wembley for engineering works, freight was diverted. This is the daily Dollands Moor to Daventry Railfreight Depot 6M45 working that conveys thousands of litres of imported European bottled water. This train took a circuitous route from Kent to Northamptonshire via the cross-London Line to the GWML as far as Didcot, then up the Chiltern Line to Birmingham and then south down the WCML to Daventry. It seems a case of the 'water must get through'!

Tickets, London Marylebone Kings Sutton
Our return tickets from Marylebone to King's Sutton. A route that we don't normally take for one of our trips to London but, as the GWML was completely closed due to engineering works at Wembley, this alternative journey was required.
