As life member of the Deltic Preservation Society, I am always excited when one on 'my' engines is out on the main line! I went out twice on this day to see 55009 (D9009) 'Alycidon' working up and then down the ECML leading 'The Leeds and Hull Executive'. This ECML is the natural home of these mighty beasts and where their power can be fully exploited and enjoyed in their full grandeur!

I went out to the ECML just north of Huntingdon in my Audi TT to see the special on its outward journey. It lived up to expectations roaring past on the up fast at full line speed. |

In the evening I went out again to see the train return in my Combo van to save some fuel costs! This time, I saw it on the four track section of the ECML just south of Biggleswade. Unfortunately, it was on the down slow and not exactly being worked very hard. |
