A Friday evening walk across the field to capture the return Northern Belle excursion heading back from Victoria to Chester running as 1Z48. A drab old evening but it produced a decent enough record of the event.

350371 & 350372, LN 18.16 London Euston-Birmingham New Street (1W71, 2L), Ashton Road Bridge
A pretty grim and grey evening sees 350371 and 350372 passing near Roade forming the 1W17 18.16 London Euston to Birmingham New Street.

350124 & class 350, LN 17.36 London Euston-Crewe (1U45, 35L), Ashton Road Bridge
An 8-car formation with 350124 leading passes just near to Roade on the down fast working the 17.36 London Euston to Crewe. Working these trains on the fast lines requires these class 350s to work at their 110mph top speed where permitted so as not to hold other traffic up.

221101 & 221117, VT 18.23 London Euston-Shrewsbury (9J38, 5L), Ashton Road Bridge
The 18.23 London Euston to Chester passes just south of Roade near Northampton. The two units are 221101 'Louis Blériot' and 221 117 'The Wrekin Giant' . I can imagine that a journey from London to Chester on one of these units would be a bit cramped and noisy, whilst fast they are not great to ride in!

57313, return leg of the Northern Belle, 17.37 London Victoria-Chester (1Z48), Ashton Road bridge
57313 leads the 17.37 London Victoria to Chester Northern Belle past Roade between Northampton and Milton Keynes. I don't like the drab and uninspiring livery that these West Coast 57s carry but the Northern Belle stock looks very smart. This 57 was formally a Virgin Thunderbird named 'Tracy Island'.
