A local trip out to Roade Cutting on my trusty Brompton bike to see two specials associated with the Grand National at Aintree. I don't know if there were any lucky winners on the return workings who predicted Tiger Roll winning at 10-1?

350129, LN 06.01 Crewe-London Euston (1U16, RT), Roade Cutting London North Western 350129, one of the original batch of Desiros delivered back in 2005, passes through the impressive Roade Cutting forming the 06.01 Crewe to London Euston. 57313, 06.47 London Euston-Liverpool Lime Street (1Z59), Roade Cutting The first of two specials to pass through Roade Cutting in connection with the Grand National at Aintree. Here, 57313 (formally 47371) leads the 06.47 London Euston to Liverpool Lime Street running as 1Z59. 57316, 06.47 London Euston-Liverpool Lime Street (1Z59), Roade Cutting 57316 (formally 47290) heads up the rear of the 06.47 Euston to Liverpool Lime Street Northern Belle conveying race-goers for the Aintree Grand National. 350241 & 350110, LN 06.54 Birmingham New Street-London Euston (2Y52, RT), Roade Cutting Two class 350s head south through Roade Cutting working the 06.54 Birmingham New Street to London Euston 2Y52 service. 350241 is one of the second batches of 350s where as 350110 was one of the first batch delivered in 2005. 390005, VT 06.55 Manchester Piccadilly-London-Euston (1A05, 2E) & 70003, 03.26 Garston-London Gateway (4L52), Roade Cutting Looking very smart in its new Virgin West Coast livery, 390005 'City of Wolverhampton' forms the 06.55 from Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston. It has just passed 70003 leading the 03.26 Garston to London Gateway Freightliner (4L52). The two trains are seen passing through Roade Cutting. 70003, 03.26 Garston-London Gateway (4L52), Roade Cutting 70003 was making a fair old racket as it climbed the 1:200 grade from Northampton that begins to level out only when the train reaches this location, Roade Cutting. It was heading the heavily laden 03.26 Garston to London Gateway Freightliner (4L52). These locomotives have gained quite a reputation for the noise that they make. 319457, LN 09.24 Bletchley CS-Northampton EMD ECS (5N19), Roade Cutting A regular Saturday morning working on the southern end of the WCML is the 09.24 Bletchley Carriage Sidings to Northampton EMD (Kingsheath) that runs as 5N19. It is always a class 319, one of the few that London North Western inherited from London Midland. Here, 319457 heads through Roade Cutting with this ECS turn. Keywords: 319457 5N19 Roade Cutting
390121, VT 08.15 Manchester Piccadilly-London Euston (1A14, RT), Roade Cutting 390121 'Virgin Dream' passes through Roade Cutting forming the 08.15 Manchester Piccadilly to Euston working. 67024, 08.14 London Victoria-Runcorn (1Z48), Roade Cutting The second of the Grand National specials passing through Roade Cutting is largely composed of the Belmond Pullman stock hauled by deidcated 67024. 67021, 08.14 London Victoria-Runcorn (1Z48), Roade Cutting 67019 brings up the rear of the 08.14 London Victoria to Runcorn passing through Roade Cutting. The Belmond Pullman special was heading to Merseyside carrying race goers to Aintree for the 2018 Grand National.
