A quick trip up to London with my lovely wife for her to join a Jo Malone master class at their shop in Covent Garden. Needless to say, I spent the time in the London Transport Museum and having a coffee or two!

350373, LN 08.33 Birmingham New Street-London Euston (1W06, 2L), Northampton station
I can't help but feel that this new London North Western livery looks like and experiment in undercoat! It is simply ghastly and does nothing for the looks of these extremely good class 350s. So far, very few have had this treatment with nearly all being in their old London Midland colours. Here, 350373 arrives into Northampton with the 08.33 Birmingham New Street to London Euston. My wife and I took this service to London.

37422, 06.50 Crewe Gresty Bridge-Wembley LE (0A68), Northampton station
Whilst our train waited in Northampton station the signallers allowed 37422, doing the 06.50 Gresty Bridge to Wembley light engine move, to pass and continue its up journey. Just out of sight to the right was a fair collection of spotters who had the 'gen' and had come to photograph its passage. It's pretty impressive to still be able to photograph a 53 year old locomotive on the network and goes to show what a great design these Type 3s were when ordered as part of the Modernisation Plan.

47746, stabled for ECS from The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express), London Euston station
47746 'Chris Fudge 29.7.70 - 22.6.10' sits on the blocks at London Euston. Earlier that morning it brought the ECS for the 'The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express' in from Acton via the North London Line. It sat at Euston all day to be re-attached when the railtour arrived back later that evening. 86259 'Les Ross/Peter Pan' then towed the stock and 47 ensemble back to Acton.
