A Sunday lunchtime visit on my Brompton bike to Roade Cutting. I had perused the Realtime Trains data for the day and spotted that there were a few interesting workings all within an hour or so.

37800 & 375925, 09.45 Chaddesden-Ramsgate EMUD (5Q58), Roade Cutting
Rail Operation Group (ROG) won the contract to tow the refurbished class 375s back from Derby to their home at Ramsgate. This meant a regular flow of 37 hauled workings that mostly went via the Midland Main Line, traversed the Bedford to Bletchley route and down the WCML through to London and beyond. However, on this Sunday the trip was diverted and came through Northampton. The ensemble is seen here passing through Roade Cutting with 37800 'Cassiopeia' leading 375925.

390001 'Virgin Pioneer' sweeps through Roade Cutting forming the 1H07 11.20 London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly. As Roade Cutting runs approximately North-South some photographic rules have to broken to capture down trains, particularly, like this one, when taken in the winter months!

390043 'Virgin Explorer' heads south through Road Cutting with the 11.07 Wolverhampton to London Euston. To successfully take a picture of an up train on the fast, a portrait shot is best used as in landscape, the composition is too messy.

Whilst its timetabled start time varies slightly from time to time, it always runs as 4L48. Note, on this particular Sunday it was only shown as running as far as Ripple Lane; not quite sure why?

Following railtour duties the previous day, 86259 'Peter Pan/Les Ross' heads light engine from Acton to Rugby carriage Sidings. During the week, this veteran class 86 that emerged from Doncaster Works in 1966, can often be seen stabled just outside Rugby station in the overgrown carriage sidings.
