My third day in a row out to see The Shakespearean Sonnet, this time the returning ECS working. A little later, the 0Z86 light engine also passed close to home following hauling another Cumbrian Mountain Express the previous day. Both trains were routed away from Northampton on the 'old' line via Weedon due to planned engineering works.

390039, VT 11.52 London Euston-Birmingham New Street (9G19, 1L), Milton Crossing
390039 'City of Coventry' emerges from the depths of Roade cutting past Milton crossing working the 9G16 11.52 Euston to Birmingham New Street service. This is one of my favoured spots close to home with good photographs possible in both directions, but, unfortunately, it is on the fast line, so most of the interesting trains do not pass this way going via Northampton on the slow lines!

20142 'Sir John Betjeman' is seen at the rear of the 11.36 Wembley Yard to Carnforth North Junction empty stock move passing Milton crossing just north of Roade on the 'old' route via Weedon. Leading the train are Railadventure HST power cars 43480 and 43468 with 20007 and 20205 sandwiched in between the stock and the HSTs.

86259, 13.15 Acton Lane Reception Sidings-Rugby CS (0Z86, 25E), site of Roade station
Having been involved in railtour duties the previous day, 66259 'Peter Pan/Les Ross' returns light engine to its stabling point in Rugby carriage sidings. Due to the closure of the Northampton loop due to weekend engineering works, the 0Z56 13.15 ex Acton Lane Reception Sidings is travelling on the down fast line. It is seen passing Roade at the site of the former station.
