Following the completion of my Friday chores, I took a walk out around the village with the camera thrown over my shoulder. I caught two freights, both by the skin of my teeth arriving at bridges just as they appeared, more by luck than judgment I might add!

66538, 11.48 Lawley Street-London Gateway (4L46, 34L), site of Roade station
I had just arrived at this spot in Roade as the train appeared in the distance emerging from the cutting. I just managed to get the camera set up hoping that the shutter speed was right, and as can be seen, a pleasing shot has been produced helped considerably by the afternoon sunshine. 66538 leads the 4L46 11.48 Lawlwy Street to London Gateway Freightliner service.

66312, 14.40 DIRFT-Dollands Moor (6O55, 10L), Roade cutting
A photographic cop made this short afternoon walk all the worthwhile! The daily empty water train slogs through Roade cutting hauled by recently named (November 2024) GBRf's 66312 'Nigel Harris' (of former Rail fame). It is not actually too surprising that 66312 has evaded my camera all these years as it has spent all of its life in Europe owned and run by a number of operators in a variety of countries.
