3. An HST & and a Capitalstar drag-04.01.25

A test train running on a Saturday is not common but with the Christmas and New Year breaks causing affecting the normal fixed programme of trains, I suspect this ran in an effort to get things back to schedule. In addition, at about the same time a Class 37 was involved in a unit drag from South London.

66797, 06.53 Dollands Moor-DIRFT (6M41, 1L), Roade cutting
Two days ago I photographed the same train hauled by the same locomotive but from the bridge seen in the background in Roade cutting. However, the weather is very different today with no sun and a lot colder. Wearing its one-off GBRf livery 66797 leads the 6M41 06.53 Dollands Moor to Daventry water train.

43257 & 43277, 11.37 Crewe Pottery Sidings-Derby RTC (1Q85, 1E), Roade cutting
Operated by Colas' 43257 leads the 11.37 Crewe Pottery Sidings to Derby RTC via a run along the WCML to Euston, passes through Roade cutting with 43277 'Safety Task Force' on the rear. It is unusual for a NMT to operate on a Saturday but due to the Christmas and New Year break affecting the normal programme of operations Network Rail has had to alter their normal working pattern of track monitoring.

43277 & 43257, 11.37 Crewe Pottery Sidings-Derby RTC (1Q85, 1E), Roade cutting
43277 'Safety Task Force' brings up the rear of the 11.37 Crewe Pottery Sidings to Derby RTC measurement train passes through Roade cutting. Matching Colas power car 43257 is leading the 1Q85 at the front of the train. Close examination of the rear power car reveals some wag has written 'clean me' in the grime of the nose cone just under the small Colas logo!

37611 & 378225, 10.46 New Cross Gate-Widness Transport Tech (5Q46, 5E), Hyde Road bridge
37611 'Denise' was certainly being driven by an enthusiastic driver as it progressed along the WCML in Northamptonshire. Indeed, I could hear the Class 37 some distance away leading the 5Q46 10.46 New Cross Gate to Widness Transport Tech. Capitalstar 378225 is being towed to the Merseyside facility for overhaul work on behalf of London Overground.

378225 & 37611, 10.46 New Cross Gate-Widness Transport Tech (5Q46, 5E), Hyde Road bridge
This is not a scene very often! A London Overground Capitalstar passes through Roade cutting running as 5Q46, the 10.46 New Cross Gate to Widness Transport Tech. It is not running under its own power with ROG's 37622 'Denise' enthusiastically leading the train with plenty of English Electric thrash. I am not sure as to why the Capitalstar is being dragged to Widness as I am not aware of an overhaul programme relating to these units....can anybody advise?
