I had picked up on RailAdvent that a WCR light engine move should be taking place today and sure enough, it appeared on RTT as an STP path meaning it was more than likely to run. I took a walk across the fields from home to catch it.

807008, 10.16 London Euston-Wolverhampton (9G14, 11L), Victoria bridge
The 10.16 Euston to Wolverhampton Avanti service passes Victoria bridge between Roade and Ashton worked by 807008. With the Avero takeover less than a month old I have yet to travel on one of these new units, something that I am determined to put right in the new year.

44871, 08.59 Southall WCR-Castleton Hopwood GF (5Z43, 5E), Victoria bridge
Former LMS Black 5 44871 is seen returning home for a New Year rest just south of Roade. Running as 5Z43, the 08.59 Southall West Coast to Castleton Hopwood (for access to East Lancashire Railway) the train ran to time for its entire journey complete with a tiny Father Christmas attached to the centre lamp. The Black 5 has seen intense use over recent months operating various charters and specials so I suspect it will be receiving a good service during the quiet period in the New Year.

66102, 06.53 Dollands Moor-DIRFT (6M45, 23E), Victoria bridge
This is my first photograph of 66102 in several years and definitely my first since it received its smart new DB paint scheme. Brightening up the drab and grey late December weather it leads the 06.53 Dollands Moor to Daventry (DIRFT)' water train' past Victoria bridge just south of Roade.
