A short walk out from home in the morning to see an interesting empty stock move and a bike ride in the early evening to Victoria bridge.

Class 221, unidentified up working, site of Roade station
In the pouring rain an unidentified Class 221 Voyager heads south at the site of Roade's former station. This will be a train originating from either North Wales or Birmingham New Street.

67006, 05.17 Stewart's Lane-Cheltenham (5Z25), site of Roade station
On a very dull and wet Saturday morning 67006 'Royal Sovereign' leads the 5Z25 05.17 Stewart's Lane to Cheltenham empty coaching stock. This ECS move was associated with a later charter picking up passengers from Cheltenham and Bristol Parkway heading to Southampton looking forward to a luxury cruise. The train was to travel via the GWML to Bathampton Junction and then through the Avon Valley to Westbury and then south through Salisbury. After its passengers disembarked at Southampton Central the empty stock then returned directly to Stewart's Lane for stabling.

350123 & 350106, LM 17.13 Birmingham New Street-London Euston, Victoria bridge
After the morning's rain by the afternoon and early evening, things had perked up a bit so I took a short bike ride from home to Victoria bridge. 350123 and 350106 head south past Victoria bridge near Roade (seen in the background) working the 17.13 Birmingham New Street to Euston service.

350258, unidentified down working, Victoria bridge
An unidentified London Midland service heads north past Victoria bridge between Roade and Ashton worked by 350258. A Virgin Pendolino can just be seen heading south away from the camera on the up fast line.

Class 221, VT 18.10 London Euston-Chester, Victoria bridge
An unidentified Class 221 Voyager speeds past Victoria bridge just south of Roade working Virgin's 18.10 Euston to Chester service. Unfortunately, recording the number of Voyagers is very tricky when they pass at speed due to the number being written very low down on the flank of the cab.

Approaching the end of August means that by 19.00 (when this image was captured) the light is beginning to fade fairly fast. Under grey skies, 350259 heads south with the village of Roade in the background working the 17.33 Birmingham New Street to Euston service.

The light is really fading now so I have made this my final image of my short evening visit to Victoria bridge; time to head home on my bike! 350238 is working the 17.54 Birmingham New Street to Euston just south of Roade.
