I took my customary Christmas Eve walk in two parts this year to coincide with the passage of a couple of light engine ROG Class 37s, one working north and the other south.

A Happy Christmas to all my readers.

37510, 08.04 Derby RTC-Reading Triangle Sidings (0V74, 13E), A508 bridge
Not one of my most photographed ROG Class 37s 37510 'Orion' passes Roade, seen from the former A508 bridge. It was running as 0V74 having left Derby RTC at 08.04 ending up at Reading. I am not too sure why it was heading to Reading but given that it would be very busy over the coming few days as the starting and finishing point for most GWML trains due to the closure of Paddington it could be associated with this?

37608, 10.00 Bicester MoD-Derby RTC (0M57, 17E), Hyde Road bridge
The second RoG Class 37 light engine within two hours passes north through Roade on this Christmas Eve afternoon. Running as 0M57 37608 'Andromeda' is seen working the 1.00 Bicester MoD to Derby RTC that is taking a particularly circuitous route that initially saw it heading south to Oxford and Didcot and then to London. Having traversed the North London line it then took the WCML to Nuneaton where it then reversed to head east to Leicester and finally north to Derby.
