104. The Cheshireman-23.11.24

Another case of train photography madness took place on this morning. With named storm Bert fast approaching I took the crazy decision to go out in virtual darkness to see the steam-hauled Cheshireman charter pass close to home. Given the cold and damp weather, I anticipated some exhaust from the Black5 and that in itself was well worth the effort! It wasn't long before I returned home for a cup of tea and some shelter.

66518, 04.39 London Gateway-Lawley Street (4M56, 2E), site of Roade station
With the light so dire I thought that I would convert to greyscale in an attempt to to record the passing of the 4M56 04.39 London Gateway to Lawley Street Freightliner. With its headlights glowing in the gloom of a wet and cold Saturday morning the train is seen passing Roade.

44871, outward leg of The Cheshireman, 06.51 London Euston-Chester (1Z71, 1L), site of Roade station
Black 5 44871 is in demand at the moment on railtour duties. Last Saturday it was captured on the ECML at Tempsford, see..... https://www.ontheupfast.com/p/21936chg/30062618742/x44871-christmas-white-rose-07-38 and here it is now on the WCML. In dreadful light and with storm Bert fast approaching the 06.51 Euston to Chester Cheshireman charter passes Roade with 47812 out of sight on the rear. In the cold and wet air the exhaust has certainly livened up the ridiculously dull scene!

66740, 06.21 Hams Hall-London Gateway (4L12, 8L), site of Roade station
66740 'Sarah' emerges from Roade cutting now passing the site of the former station leading the 4L12 06.21 Hams Hall to London Gateway GBRf service. Like all the other photographs taken on this horrible morning this one has needed a fair bit of work to make it presentable but just fifteen minutes from when the first image was captured the light has improved noticeably but its all relative!

Running just a few minutes behind the last up GBRF freight the 03.14 Garston to Felixstowe 4L97 Freightliner heads south past Roade led by 66558.
