After servicing Andy's Nissan Micra we [ooped out for a coffee and to photograph a couple of freights in the village. It was a glorious autumn day with the colours really beginning to come on at last.

66512, 09.36 Willesden Euroterminal-New Bilton (6R93, 95L), Hyde Road bridge
Yet another load of spoil from HS2 works to the north-west of London makes its way to a new home in an abandoned quarry near Rugby. Led by 66512 the 6R93 09.36 Willesden Eusroterminal to new Bilton passes Roade seen from the village's Hyde Road bridge. This train now runs twice a day with the balancing empty wagon working coming back this way in a few hours. Unfortunately, today, this working was running extremely late, it should have passed this spot nearly two hours earlier.

66542, 09.52 Lawley Street-Southampton MCT (4O38, 2L), Hyde Road bridge
In the last few days the autumn colours, which have been pretty conspicuous until now have really begun to warm up! Passing through Roade cutting 66542 is leading the 4O38 09.52 Lawley Street to Southampton Freightliner, a service that should have been hauled by a Class 70 much to the disappointment of one of my fellow photographers at this spot! Whilst it is a sunny scene, the foreground has just gone into full shadow just seconds before the train passed - sometimes it comes together!
