360114 & 360103, EM 06.47 London St. Pancras-Corby (1Y05, 2L), Harrowden Junction
In the cold early morning light at Harrowden Junction just north of Wellingborough the 06.47 St. Pancras to Corby service passes worked by 360114 and 360103. The camera struggled a little with the lighting, particularly with the colour temperature - something that all Canon cameras always seem to have issues with in my experience. However, as usual, Photoshop has come to the rescue and sorted things out. Incidentally, to achieve the shutter speed necessary the ISO was set to 2500 thus introducing a little digital noise.

222102 & 222010, EM 06.49 Nottingham-London St. Pancras (1B13, 2L), Harrowden Junction
The rising sun is just high enough to illuminate the flank of the train as it passes Harrowden Junction between Kettering and Wellingborough. 222102 and 222010 are working the 1B13 06.49 Nottingham to St. Pancras service. It won't be long now until the new Class 810 Aurora sets will be in service on this route with testing currently underway that will see the trusty Meridians heading off to new tracks.

222016, EM 07.02 London St. Pancras-Sheffield (1F10, RT), Harrowden Junction
Whilst Harrowden Junction just north of Wellingborough remains a popular spot for railway photography certain angles are compromised considerably by the ingress of the catenary as illustrated here! 222016 works the 07.02 St. Pancras to Sheffield service north past the junction catching some very low autumn sunshine that was bringing a little warmth to a very chilly October morning.

360117 & 360107, EM 07.39 Corby-London St. Pancras (1H10, 1L), Harrowden Junction
360117 and 360107 pass Harrowden Junction between Kettering and Wellingborough working EMR's 07.39 Corby to St. Pancras service. EMR has recently announced that these reliable hand-me-down units are going to be treated to a complete overhaul in internal re-fit that will probably be their last before withdrawal comes with the first ones entering service way back in 2002.

43058 & 43050, outward leg of The West Highland Pullman, 07.04 St. Albans-Fort William (1Z43, 2E), Harrowden Junction
Looking superb in the early morning autumn sunshine LSL's Midland Pullman HST set passes Harrowden Junction having just left Wellingborough station. Power car 43058 'Loch Eil' is leading with 43050 'Loch Morar' bringing up the rear working the outward leg of The West Highland Pullman that left St. Albans at 07.04 heading for Fort William. Incidentally, train planners gave it the reporting number of 1Z43 in a nod to the class of power cars; a nice touch!

66618, 00.49 Moreton-on-Lugg-Elstow Redland (6M39, 2L), Harrowden Junction
66618 'Railways Illustrated Annual Photographic Awards Alan Barnes' leads the 6M39 00.49 Moreton-on-Lugg to Elstow (Redland Sidings) gravel train past Harrowden Junction on a chilly but bright October morning. This train takes a surprisingly circuitous route from Herefordshire to Bedfordshire via Shrewsbury, Crewe, Stafford, Tamworth, Leicester and Corby. Incidentally, a study of a map reveals that its departure and arrival points are almost on the same line of latitude making this route even more incongruous!
