As I was working close to the WCML in Milton Keynes I had a scan of RTT to see what was about during the day. The only thing that I picked up was an early afternoon 0Z44 working from Wembley yard to Kidderminster SVR. I took a short walk from my work place to the line and was joined by a member of the Network Rail staff from their nearby headquarters so I knew that the train was to be something interesting!

43423, 43467, 43484 & 43465, 13.26 Wembley Yard-Kidderminster SVR (0Z44, 3L), Loughton Redway bridge, Milton Keynes
The 0Z44 13.26 Wembley Yard to Kidderminster (SVR) passes just north of Milton Keynes station taken from one of the city's many Redway routes that crosses the line. The four power cars are (from the front) 43423, 43467, 43484 and 43465. The pair of liveries make for an interesting comparison with all four being used on various stock moves throughout the network. Of the three power cars seen here, the oldest is 43423 which as 43123 was a spare late set delivered to the East Coast route in May 1979. It was never formed into a 254 set as was 43122. The other three in this photograph were all part of the batch four sets delivered during the summer of 1982 (as 43167, 43184 and 43165) to operate on the NE/SW route ousting many locomotive-hauled services. Of course, all four were later converted in a stop-gap move to operate as ECML DVTs gaining their buffer beams whilst awaiting the late delivery of IC225s.
