My first trip out was mid-morning to see the Grand Prix charter coming down from London bringing passengers to Northampton where they would join a fleet of buses to take them to Silverstone.

It is seen in some warm summer sunshine passing through Roade cutting working the 08.20 manchester Piccadilly to London Euston service. 66024, down infrastructure working, Roade cutting 660024 leads a down unidentified infrastructure train through Roade cutting that I presume is heading for Bescot in Birmingham. 66007 is just visible on the rear of the train that originated in the north London area. 66007, down infrastructure working, Roade cutting A sunny scene in Roade cutting on a Sunday morning sees an infrastructure working heading back from its overnight worksite to Bescot Yard. Just visible on the front is 66024 leading with 66007 on the rear. Both locomotives wear their as-built EWS livery that ceased to be in 2007 after being taken over by DB Schenker. Re-branding began in 2009 but has been slow so far with very few locomotives wearing their new livery. Keywords: 66007 down infrastructure working Roade cutting EWS
350234 & 350119, LM 10.08 Northampton-London Euston, Roade Cutting 350234 and 350119 pass through Roade cutting working the 10.08 Northampton to Euston London Midland service. Class 390, VT 09.05 Wolverhampton-London Euston, Roade Cutting There is no camera or user error with this photograph but merely that I have tried to be a little more creative! I have set and held the camera's focus on the ash and sycamore saplings to the right whilst allowing the background to remain blurred. 47832, return leg of Northern Belle GP Special, London Euston-Northampton-Willesden (1Z35), Roade cutting 47832 'Solway Princess' leads the returning London Euston to Northampton empty coaching stock back to Willesden running as 1Z35. Racegoers making for the F1 Grand Prix at Silverstone enjoyed a champagne breakfast run down from London earlier and have now alighted at Northampton for a bus transfer to Silverstone. I was lucky with the sun (for once!) on this occasion with the front in full light with the rear of the train in shadow. 47805, return leg of Northern Belle GP Special, London Euston-Northampton-Willesden (1Z35), Roade cutting 47805 'John Scott 12.5.45-22.5.12' brings up the rear of the Northern Belle empty stock working from Northampton to Willesden as it passes southwards through Roade cutting. Having dropped its passengers making for the Silverstone Grand Prix at Northampton the train will be serviced and stabled in north London before returning later to collect them from Northampton.
