On arriving home from work I noticed that all trains appeared to have been halted on the four lines of the WCML across the filed. Indeed, I could see a stationary Pendolino from the driveway; I went to investigate.

An unidentified Class 390 Pendolino proceeds at a walking pace having been held at the signal seen level with the fourth coach. There had been an 'all stop' situation making for an interesting view when looking at Open Train Times. I suspect that it was a signalling failure of some kind but I am not certain.

Class 390, VT 17.55 Manchester Piccadilly-London Euston (1A61), having been held at signal, Victoria bridge
Catching some evening sunshine an unidentified Class 390 Pendolino, working the 17.55 Manchester to Euston service passes Victoria bridge near Roade. However, looks can be deceiving as rather than travelling at line speed the Pendolino is actually moving at walking pace. All services had been stopped for some time linked, I suspect, to some sort of signalling failure.

Class 390, VT 19.03 London Euston-Birmingham New Street (1G40), having been held at signal, Victoria bridge
A photograph that would usually require a shutter speed of anything above 1/1600 second if the subject would be kept sharp but in this example, I have selected 1/320 second. The Pendolino, working the 19.03 Euston to Birmingham New Street is still sharp as it was moving at walking pace. All trains just south of Roade had been halted a little earlier and were now on their way but very slowly, I presume due to some sort of signalling fault.
