A regular Sunday freight that passes through Roade on the southern WCM is the 4L48 'Tesco Express'. It is always worth watching, even more so today as the sun was out!

With London Midland presently operating three-car single sets on their services during the week with consequential over-crowding come the weekend they are back to twin sets and thus six cars as here on a Sunday. This is largely caused by a lack of stock with new trains being sourced but the travelling experience, in the meantime, remains a crowded one! 350121 leads another unit through Roade cutting working the 11.14 Birmingham new Street to Euston service.

Class 390, VT 10.58 Preston-London Euston, Hyde Road bridge
An unidentified Class 390 Pendolino works through Roade seen from the village's Hyde Road bridge working the 10.58 Preston to Euston service. It was nice to be standing on the bridge with the warm early summer sun on my back.

Class 390, VT 11.15 Manchester Piccadilly-London Euston, Hyde Road bridge
Now a feature of the WCML for just over ten years and a third of the way through their planned lifespan the Pendolinos have proved themselves to be dependable trains. An unidentified member of the 390/1 sub-set works the 11.15 Manchester Piccadilly to Euston Virgin service.

66428, 12.03 DIRFT-Tilbury Freightliner Terminal (4L48), Hyde Road bridge
The up 'Tesco Express' 4L48 12.03 Daventry to Tilbury service passes through Roade cutting lead by DRS' 66428. Running seven days per week the train is part of Stobart Rail's logistic portfolio with their branding now confined to the roof of the boxes where it used to be on the flanks as well with these now carrying the Les Co2 Rail moniker.

During the week Crewe services operated by London Midland take the fast lines thus avoiding Northampton but not at the weekends. 350107 passes through Roade cutting working the 09.30 Crewe to Euston service.
