I cannot understand where this year has gone. Time has haemorrhaged away to the point where it is the first day of September! The first day of autumn was hot and bright so I went out for a lunchtime walk to coincide with the passage of the up and down DRS operated 'Tesco Express' services.

The Sunday up Tesco Express passes Victoria bridge just south of Roade. Running seven days a week the 4L48 12.41 Daventry to Tilbury is led by DRS' 88002 'Prometheus'. I only just managed to get this photograph arriving just twenty seconds or so before it appeared around the curve in the distance due to getting caught up in a mass of brambles and nettles on my walk from home; I must bring my trimmers next time to clear the path!

Just a few minutes after the up Tesco Express headed south the northbound working passed led by 66433 'Carlisle Power Signal Box-50th Anniversary 1973-2023'. Named in June 2023 in a short ceremony at Carlise station the smart DRS Class 66 is leading the 4M0 10.28 Tilbury to DIRFT service just a few miles from its destination here at Victoria bridge near Roade.
