A pleasant late afternoon walk to Roade cutting to capture the passage of the interesting 5Q74 unit drag. This drag was on RTT for this day and the next one, a Saturday, but I suspect that the latter will not run. (PS I was correct, just the Friday one ran)

90016 & 90007, 11.13 Felixstowe North-Ditton (4M87, 9E), Hyde Road bridge
Whilst 90016 has been a Freightliner locomotive for many years now, 90006 (second in line) is a relative newcomer to the freight operator previously being a GA Great Eastern Mainline locomotive, see... https://www.ontheupfast.com/p/21936chg/29305379404/x90007-15-00-norwich-london-liverpool The pair, now matching in their smart DB Cargo livery, pass through Roade working the 11.13 Felixstowe to Ditton service.

37608, 730035 & 730026, 10.38 Old Dalby-Willesden TMD (5Q74, 3E), Hyde Road bridge
Another Class 37 in action on the WCML! This time, it's the turn of Rail Operations Group's 37608 'Andromeda' passing Roade towing 730035 and 730026. Having been undertaking some sort of testing or other the units are returning south as the 5Q74 10.38 Od Dalby to Willesden move. There is a burgeoning market of moving stock around the country be it new ones like this or older ones for scrapping with companies such as ROG attempting to corner that market.

66305, 14.06 Birch Coppice-London Gateway (4L68, RT), Roade cutting
66305 has led a varied and interesting history. It was ordered as one of five by Fastline (now owned by Jarvis) back in 2008. Jarvis went into administration in 2010 taking the Fastline name with them. The five Class 66s were subsequently acquired by DRS who painted them into their 'basic' blue livery. In 2022 GBRf then took on the five locomotives (66301-66305) leasing them from Beacon Rail but it has taken some time for them to be re-livereid and, in some cases, named. In its sparkling new paint, 66305 now named 'Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway', passes Roade leading the 14.06 Birch Coppice to London Gateway afternoon service. The locomotive was named in a ceremony earlier this month at the heritage line, there is a post covering this event on their Facebook page, see... https://www.facebook.com/embsayrailway
