Working again in Milton Keynes near the railway, I found myself by the lineside during my lunch break. I timed it to coincide with the passage of a Class 37 light engine move and a couple of diverted freights.

37401, 10.22 Crewe HS-Eastleigh Arlington (0Z40, 53E), Loughton Redway bridge, Milton Keynes
Shorn of its nameplates (formally 'Mary Queen of Scotts') 37401 heads light engine past Milton Keynes as the 10.22 Crewe HS to Arlington (Eastleigh) light engine move. The 37 was formally owned by DRS but at the end of 2023 it was transferred to LSL who now operate the large logo liveried machine. It is not clear what plans they have for the locomotive in terms of its naming and paint scheme. The nameplates from 37401 were auctioned at the DRS open day held at their Kingmoor Depot in July.

70010, 09.52 Lawley Street-Southampton MCT (4O38, 2E), Loughton Redway bridge, Milton Keynes
With the closure, yet again, of the line through Oxford due to troubles with the extension of the station and the remodelling of the Botley Road underbridge freight was being diverted along the already busy WCML. 70010 leads the 09.52 Lawley Street to Southampton MCT Freightliner service on the approach to Milton Keynes taken from the Loughton Redway bridge.

66953, 09.57 Crewe Basford Hall-Southampton MCT (Cancelled from Wembley) (4G11, 8L), Loughton Redway bridge, Milton Keynes
This is the first time that I recorded a photograph of 66953 actually working a train with the only other one that I have is of it in Crewe Basford Hall, see... https://www.ontheupfast.com/p/21936chg/26089866404/x86639-66953-stabled-crewe-basford It is seen at walking pace on the approach to Milton Keynes station, that is just to my right on the other side of the bridge on which I am standing, leading the diverted 4G11 09.57 Crewe Basford Hall to Southampton Freightliner. As can be seen, it is a train composed of fresh air with not a single box being conveyed, I don't know if this had anything to do with it being terminated at and cancelled from Wembley Yard.
