With the weather continuing to be warm and sunny I was again tempted out locally. This time to see one of the now regular Class 360 drags from the MML to Northampton's Siemens Depot via a reversal at Bletchley following traversing the Marston Vale line.

66764, 12.18 London Gateway-Hams Hall (4M47, 46L), Hyde Road bridge In a repeat of yesterday 66764 'Major John Poyntz - Engineer & Railwayman' is seen hauling the 4M47 12.18 London Gateway to Hams Hall freight through Roade. However, this afternoon it is running late and I am taking the photograph one bridge up from yesterday's, this time from Hyde Road bridge. However, thankfully, the weather remains good! 57303 & 360105, 13.08 Kettering Stabling Sidings-Northampton EMD (5B60, 77L), Hyde Road bridge After an unexplained extended layover in Bletchley Carriage Sidings, the 5B60 13.08 Kettering Carriage Sidings to Northamton's Siemens Depot drag is seen passing through Roade from Hyde Road bridge. 360105 is being dragged by 57303 which will be making light work of its task. With Northampton and Kettering just fifteen miles from each other (NE to SW) it seems crazy that the units have to be dragged all the way south and then back north to simply be serviced and have various exams. undertaken - such is the nature of our railway! 360105 & 57303, 13.08 Kettering Stabling Sidings-Northampton EMD (5B60, 77L), Hyde Road bridge EMR's 360105 is seen entering Roade cutting dragged by 57303 (formally 57705 & 'Pride of Carlisle'). The Desoro is being dragged from its usual haunts on the MML to Northampton's Siemens depot as 5B60, with a locomotive run round at Bletchley. The unit will spend a week or so at the facility having servicing and an exam. undertaken before returning whence it came. 90048 & 90014, 11.13 Felixstowe North-Ditton (4M87, 6E), site of Roade station It's always nice to see a matching pair of locomotives hauling any train but a pair of orange Freightliner liveried locomotives look particularly impressive. 90048 leads 90014 'Over The Rainbow' as they work the 4M87 11.13 Felixstowe to Ditton service past Roade. In common with most freight seen this week on my outings, this one was well loaded with just a few empty flast towards the rear of the train. This photograph is taken using the digital zoom on the Canon G1X, something that only really works successfully in weather and lighting conditions such as this where a very low ISO (400) and small aperture (f5.6) are possible.
