After parking the car for free in my usual chosen spot a short walk from Milton Keynes station we took a Souther service to Kensington Olympia station.

377213, SN 18.13 Milton Keynes Central-Clapham Junction, Milton Keynes Central station
Southern's 377213 has just arrived at Milton Keynes and will soon return to Clapham Junction as the 18.13 service. My wife, son and I joined this train and travelled south as far as Kensington Olympia. On arrival, we walked the relatively short distance up Kensington High Street to where we stayed on Church Street; very handy for our London activities.

221105, VT 16.35 Chester-London Euston & 350125, LM 16.33 Birmingham New Street-London Euston, Milton Keynes Central station
A Friday evening scene at Milton Keynes station. To the left Virgin's 16.35 Chester to London Eustonis just arriving at the station whilst, to the right, 350125 looks as if it will be well loaded judging by the busy platform working the 16.33 Birmingham to Euston London Midland service.

350125, LM 16.33 Birmingham New Street-London Euston, Milton Keynes Central station
The 16.33 Birmingham New Street to London Euston London Midland service departs from Milton Keynes worked by a single set 350125. London Midland's policy of running their trains, including the peak-time services such as this, are largely single sets now and already are proving wholly inadequate with terrible over crowding; an urgent re-think is needed here I think.

67020, stabled, Wembley Yard
EWS' 67020 is seen stabled in Wembley Yard. Taking images whilst passing Wembley is much easier when travelling on a Southern Eelectrostar as it runs on tracks closer to the extensive yard and is also going much slower preparing to head down and underneath the main running lines before heading off south at Mitre Bridge Junction

Class 378, LO 18.53 Richmond-Stratford, Willesden Junction High Level station
An unidentified London Overground Class 378 is seen arriving at Willesden Junction High Level station working the 18.53 Richmond to Stratford service. This unusual angle is taken from a passing Southern service as it slows to almost a walking pace in preparation to swing south and under the WCML tracks before heading off on to towards southern territory via Mitre Brisge Junction.

86701 & 86401, stabled & stored, Willesden Depot
Long-term residents 86701 'Orion' and 86401 'Northampton Town' are seen in Willesden Yard just outside the depot building from a passing Southern service. The orange paintwork of 86701 is beginning to fade a little after it was applied last year in readiness for a Colas/Tesco tie-up to deliver palletised goods into Central London. This eminently sensible proposal came to nothing apart from costing both parties considerably; perhaps they should have tried harder?
