Returning from having my haircut coincided with the passing of a steam engine light engine move rumoured to be LNER Peppercorn Class A2 60532 'Bue Peter'. Indeed, the other gathered enthusiasts at Victoria bridge were rewarded with the sight of the recently overhauled locomotive passing with a support coach.

66513, 06.15 Trafford Park-London Gateway (4L44, 13L),Victoria bridge
A photograph that amply illustrates the rampant lineside growth taking place at Victoria bridge just south of Roade. Indeed, while at the bridge the gathered enthusiasts attracted the attention of a Network Rail employee doing his rounds. He was also concerned about the growth of bindweed that was totally encroaching on various masts. We also pointed out the small ash trees that have started to become a problem between the slow and fast lines seen to the left of the train. 66513 leads the 06.15 Trafford Park to London Gateway passes the scene.

805013, VT 09.20 Chester-London Euston (as 09.44½ ex Crewe) (1A19, 8L), Victoria bridge
Evero 805013 passes Victoria bridge working the 09.20 Chester to Euston service. Unfortunately, something had obviously gone wrong earlier in the day as the train had actually started from Crewe. I hope that passengers who wanted to catch the train from Chester were able to get to Crewe in time for the journey south. This photograph amply illustrates the uncontrolled growth at this location with several ash trees taking up residence between the slow and fast lines.

60532, 07.16 Crewe HS-Southall LSL (5Z30, 37L), Victoria bridge
60532 'Blue Peter' is the only example of an LNER Peppercorn Class A2 with the other fourteen all scrapped. It has been away from our railways for many years whilst undergoing a complete rebuild but it is now back and looking superb! It is seen passing Victoria bridge just south of Roade with a support coach as the 5Z30 07.16 Crewe HS to Southall LSL. The following day it was to work a demonstration train to York organised and operated by LSL.

66418, 09.36 Willesden Euroterminal-New Bilton (6R93, 3L), Victoria bridge
Taken against the sun 66418 'Patriot-In Memory of Fallen Railway Employees' leads the 09.36 Willesden to New Bilton past Victoria bridge just south of Roade. The almost daily service carries wagon loads of spoil being removed from various HS2 sites to be deposited in a huge water-filled former quarry near Rugby.

805011, 09.11 Edge Hill Depot-London Euston (3A88, 8L), Victoria bridge
The 3A88 09.11 Edge Hill Depot to Euston passes Victoria bridge between Roade and Ashton. It appears that 805011 was undergoing some sort of driver training run as it later returned to Edge Hill in the early afternoon.

43059, 08.15 Crewe HS-Eastleigh Arlington (0Z44, 8E), Victoria bridge
The incongruous sight of a single HST power car running under its own power on the WCML is a first for me! 43059. Now one of LSL's Pullman power cars 43059 is seen passing Victoria bridge near Roade as the 08.15 Crewe HS to Eastleigh Arlington. I am not sure why the power car was heading to Arlington's but it could have been to collect some stock that has been there for paintwork.
