The final walk of my week off work feeling pretty poorly found me out with the sun out and no camera just as something interesting was passing! The mobile 'phone was hastily put to use and some reasonable record shots resulted.

175113 & 175003, 08.35 Landore TMD-Ely Papworth Sidings (5Q46, 9E), Roade cutting
Another pair of perfectly serviceable units go for storage and facing a very uncertain future that could well result in disposal. TfW's 175113 and 175003 run under their own power through Roade as the 08.35 Landore to Ely Papworth sidings. In a railway world where new trains are exorbitantly expensive and more often than not do not run properly and even end up going for storage themselves, the railways dispose of perfectly good and reliable assets; what's wrong with everybody?

175003 & 175113, 08.35 Landore TMD-Ely Papworth Sidings (5Q46, 9E), Roade cutting
175003 is seen at the rear of the 5Q46 08.35 Landore (Swansea) to Ely Papworth with 165113 leading. With an almost prophetic irony, I photographed 175003 just two years previously at Chester and predicted exactly what is taking place here, see....https://www.ontheupfast.com/p/21936chg/30028598565/x175003-12-17-maesteg-holyhead-1w94 The only thing that has suprised me is that the transition I mentioned back in 2022 has taken so long but that is down to, once again, problems with the new trains, see.... https://www.ontheupfast.com/p/21936chg/30054131487/x197031-10-01-wolverton-centre-sidings

66040, 11.59 Burton-ot-Wetmoor-Acton TC (6V06, 4L), Roade cutting
The extremely wide angle of the lens on my elderly iPhone and the lack of a proper zoom means that this is a much broader view of Roade cutting than I usually capture with my camera (in for repair at the moment). The lighting is good and I actually like this image of 66040 leading the 11.59 Burton-ot-Wetmoor to Acton empty stone train running as 6V06. This is not a regular working so I was pleased to witness its passage whilst out for my walk.

66726, 12.18 London Gateway-Hams Hall (4M47, 14L), Roade cutting
Seen on Monday working the 4M47 66726 'Sheffield Wednesday' is captured again on exactly the same working! This time the 12.18 London gateway to Hams Hall is seen passing through a sunbathed Roade cutting creating a much better photograph than Monday's despite today's being taken on my mobile 'phone, see.... https://www.ontheupfast.com/p/21936chg/30057250376/x66726-12-18-london-gateway-hams
