On the first day of being off work and poorly I was determined to get out for a gentle afternoon walk. After dosing myself up I went for an isolated stroll around the village with my camera in my pocket.

88001, 13.37 DIRFT-Tilbury (4L48, RT), Roade cutting
In the last week or so DRS has once again moved the daily 4L48 Daventry to Tilbury Tesco Express back to electric haulage. 88001 'Revolution' is seen leading the train through Roade cutting almost catching me out by the speed it was travelling taking much less time to get here from Northampton such is the power of these locomotives.

66540, 11.48 Lawley Street-London Gateway (4L46, RT), Roade cutting
Working noticeably slower than the previous electric hauled service (4L48) the 4L46 11.48 Lawley Street to London Gateway toils through Roade cutting. Freightliner's 66540 'Ruby' is leading the train; not one of my commonly photographed members of the class.

66726, 12.18 London Gateway-Hams Hall (4M47, 4L), between Roade & Ashton
66726 'Sheffield Wednesday' passes the fields of south Northamptonshire between Roade and Ashton leading the 4M47 12.18 London Gateway to Hams Hall service. Unfortunately, with such flat light under grey skies, the image is hardly one that stands out. However, if the sun had been out this angle would have been hopelessly back-lit looking southwest. I was to see the same locomotive on the same working three days later but in a very different light, see.... https://www.ontheupfast.com/p/21936chg/30057250464/x4-66726-12-18-london-gateway-hams

66161, 14.59 DIRFT-Dollands Moor (6O71, 1L), between Roade & Ashton
Looking at the faded paint on the flanks of 66161 as it passes between Roade and Ashton I suspect that this example of an EWS liveried and branded locomotive will be visiting the paint shop soon. It is leading the daily down water train empties that left Daventry at 14.59 heading for Dollands Moor where the wagons will then head back to the continent through the tunnel.
