Our journey home from London back to Northampton was as routine as ever but marked the end of a lovely short break away with Mrs. On The Up Fast.

350244, LN 12.23 London Euston-Birmingham New street (1Y35, 1L), London Euston station
Our train home from London to Northampton sits in the gloom of Euston station. My wife and I travelled on a surprisingly quiet 12.23 service to Birmingham New Street worked by 350244 and another four-car set. Unusually, we had our tickets inspected by a pair of travelling revenue enforcement officers that makes a change as in our experience the 'train manager' (aka the guard) rarely checks tickets on London Northwestern services

66124, 02.57 Toton Yard-Dollands Moor (6X11, 4E) & 66614, unidentified working, Wembley Yard
Unfortunately, despite my best efforts, I have been unable to identify the heavily graffitied freight being led by 66614 '1916 Poppy 2016' seen in Wembley Yard. However, the one headed by 66124 is much easier to identify as the 6X11 02.57 Toton Yard to Dollands Moor Toyota car train.

66554 & 66558, stabled, Wembley Yard
With a variety of new Toyota cars heading for export to the continent via the Channel Tunnel in the background, Freightliner's 66554 and 66558 await their next duties in Wembley Yard. After a few days of very welcome warm and dry spring weather, our day of return from London has reverted to type being grey and cool!

90007, 90003, 90012 & 90008, stabled, Wembley Yard
There is usually a fair collection of locomotives in Wembley Yard but it is unusual to see a line up of Class 90s. All in their matching DB Cargo liveries 90007, 90003, 90012 and 90008 await their next turn of duties.

90020, stabled sleeper, Wembley Yard
GBRf's 92020 'Billy Stirling' is seen in Wembley Yard at the head of what would have been one of two Caledonian Sleeper trains that arrived in Euston earlier in the morning from Scotland. The Class 92 will have towed the empty stock from Euston back to Wembley Yard for it to be serviced and readied for one of the coming evening's return sleepers.

Tickets, London Euston-Northampton
Our return off-peak tickets for our journey back from Euston to Northampton. We had a revenue protection ticket check on the return journey that made a change from the more usual approach taken by London Northwestern where tickets are very rarely checked even on arrival at Northampton with the barriers more often than not unmanned and open.
