The transfer of GWR units from Bristol for refurbishment work at Doncaster has started to run via the WCML. I thought when this occurred a few weeks ago (but ultimately did not run) that it was due to the planned closure of ECML at Peterborough but I appear to be wrong. In between Sunday chores at home, I nipped out to capture its passage.

350243, LN 13.56 London Euston-Birmingham New Street (1Y29, 2L), site of Roade station
350243 leads a stablemate past the site of Roade's former station working the 13.56 Euston to Birmingham train. A quick computer check reveals that I have surprisingly few images of this particular unit.

166207, 10.55 St. Philip's Marsh HST Depot-Doncaster Works Wagon Shops (5Q23, 6L), site of Roade station
A photograph that will have disappointed any photographers in the Northampton area who had gone out to capture the passage of the GWR Turbo unit a long way from its usual haunts. It was scheduled to take the Northampton loop but for some reason was pathed via Weedon thus avoiding the town. 166207 passes Roade as the 5Q23 10.55 St. Philip's Marsh HST Depot (Bristol) to Doncaster Works. I am not sure as to what work is been undertaken on these Turbo units at The Plant but I hope to see some more passing my way. Incidentally, the last time I captured this unit was two years ago in its more usual operating area, see..... https://www.ontheupfast.com/p/21936chg/30025381055/x166207-08-45-great-malvern-westbury but then it was wearing its previous FGW livery.
