I timed my Sunday walk with the passage of an infrastructure train returning to its base at Bescot. Unfortunately, the sun was once again notable for its absence!

66509, 06.45 Queen's Park-Bescot Yard (6Y61, 56E), Roade cutting Following overnight engineering works the 6Y61 06.45 Queen's Park to Bescot Yard train through Roade cutting. Looking smart in its orange livery Freightliner's 66509 'Joshia's Wish' leads the train with 66595 'NYK Spirit of Kyoto' switched off at the rear. 66594, 06.45 Queen's Park-Bescot Yard (6Y61, 56E), Roade cutting Freightliner's 66594 'NYK Spirit of Kyoto' is towed through Roade cutting at the rear of the 06.45 Queen's Park to Bescot Yard engineering train. I had spotted this train on RTT and am glad that I then checked its progress in anticipation of going out to see it as left early being nearly an hour up here at Roade! 390129, 11.30 Wembley IC Depot-Manchester Piccadilly ECS (5H42, RT), Roade cutting It is unusual for Avanti to run empty coaching stock trains but three were noted on RTT over this Sunday. One of those, 5H42, the 11.30 Wembley Yard to Manchester Piccadilly passes through Roade cutting worked by 390129 'City of Stoke-on-Trent'. I suspect that the reason for these relatively wasteful workings was that trains were in the wrong places following the previous day's industrial action. 221113, VT 09.38 Holyhead-London Euston (1A23, RT), Roade cutting The sound of Cummins QSK19-R engines STILL resonates around Roade cutting over a year after the Voyagers were due to be retired from the WCML and returned to Beacon Rail. The late introduction to service of the Class 805 and 807s has resulted in this extension; an all too common situation on our railways. 221113 heads south through the cutting working the 09.38 Holyhead to Euston. 66126, 12.41 DIRFT-Tilbury (4L48, 13E), site of Roade station DRS' 66126 leads the 12.41 DIRFT (Daventry) to Tilbury 4L48 'Tesco Express' past the site of Roade station. This formally regular-as-clockwork train has been a little more sporadic of late, on Sundays at least so it was good to see it running today.
