Returning home from charging the car in nearby Towcester I stopped off at one of my favoured local spots known locally as Victoria or Coronation bridge to capture a few New Year's Eve scenes.

350236, LN 12.33 Birmingham New Street-London Euston (1Y20, 1L), Victoria bridge 350236 passes Victoria bridge with the village of Roade in the background working the 12.33 Birmingham New Street to Euston service. I wonder if 2024 will actually be the year when the 350/2 subset is withdrawn from service with London Northwestern; something that should have happened eighteen months ago! 390010, VT 13.15 London Euston-Preston (9S77, RT), Victoria bridge 390010 'Cumbrian Spirit' passes Victoria bridge between Roade and Ashton working Avanti's 13.15 Euston to Preston service. This Pendolino was named back in 2016 by Virgin following the devastating floods that afflicted many in Cumbria and their response to it. Unfortunately, like all named Pendolinos, the attractive cast plates were replaced by vinyl stickers this one being the first to undergo this when it was re-liveried into Virgin's flowing silk livery back in October 2017. 390006, VT 13.29 London Euston-Glasgow Central (1S69, RT), Victoria bridge Unfortunately, 390006 'Charles Rennie Mackintosh' has lost its distinctive front mounted moustache that marked it out from the rest of the Pendolino fleet. It is seen passing Victoria bridge just south of Roade working the 1S69 13.29 Euston to Carlisle service. 350123 & 350409, LN 12.56 London Euston-Northampton (1Y25, 9L), Victoria bridge 250123 and 350409 head north past Victoria bridge near the village of Roade working the 12.56 Euston to Northampton 1Y25 service. I suspect that the train would be relatively quiet, very different to its returning up working that would be taking New Year revellers to London. 390152, VT 11.18 Preston-London Euston (9A52, RT), Victoria bridge 390152 takes the cambered right-hand curve just south of Roade having emerged from Roade cutting a mile or so north working the 11.18 Preston to Euston AWC service. 221117, VT 14.01 London Euston-Chester (1D88, RT), Victoria bridge Surely, 2024 must be the final year of Voyager operations on the WCML with Avanati. With the new Class 805s undergoing testing, driver training and mileage accumulation their introduction is imminent, something that should have happened two years ago! 221117 passes Victoria bridge working the 14.01 Euston to Chester service.
