1. New Year's Day on the NLR-01.01.13

Our New Year's Day customery trip to the Northampton and Lamport Railway got us out of the house on this very bright but cold morning. There was no steam in action this year but a bit of Class 3 haulage made up for that in my eyes but I am not so sure that the visiting 'normals' would have felt the same.

31289 & 47205, ready to be shunted into sidings, Pitsford & Brampton station
The New Year' Eve effect had obviously caused a slightly late start at the Northampton and Lamport Railway as when we arrived for our mince pie special trip up and down the line the train and stock were not in position and ready to go. This was the scene as we walked along the path opposite the station with 31289 and 47205 attached to a selection of wagons.

Rather optimistically wearing a 1A31 headcode (a London Paddington express working from the West Country or South Wales) 31289 has just been started up and is reversing 47205 and a short rake of vans back towards the sidings at Pitsford and Brampton station. Hopefully, after this but of 'Railway Tetris' the stock for the New Year's Day mince pie specials will be able to get under way!

Viewed between the Northampton and Lamport Railway's two resident shunters 31289 propels 47205 and some vans back towards the sidings to the north of the station. This in order to clear the running line and to release the stock to be used on New Year's Day mince pie specials.

Former ScotRail notice, Mk. II TSO Sc5132, NLR
An interesting survivor pictured inside one of the Northampton and Lamport Railway's coaches, Mk. II TSO Sc5132. The notice reveals where it was operating in its final few years but, interestingly after operating on the far north line from Inverness it became part of the Eversholt Train Leasing's portfolio but I am not sure how much, if any, use it saw with them prior to withdrawal in 1999. This particular coach was an early example of the Mk.II with a pair of doors centrally located with this photograph taken in the vestibule of these doors.

47205, stabled, Pitsford sidings
Earlier in the morning 47205 and the vans to which it was attached were blocking the Northampton and Lamport Railway's running lines. They were successfully shunted into the sidings and the mince pie specials could then run lead by resident A1A-A1A Type 2 31289.
