Again, my record-keeping appears to have fallen off a cliff! I have no idea why I called in at Trowbridge station, why I took this photograph or even the date. I have narrowed it down using its juxtaposition within the contemporary black-and-white negative strips that were, thankfully, filed in good order and looking at the low lighting puts it in the autumn /winter of 1981.

33020, unidentified Cardiff Central-Portsmouth Harbour working, Trowbridge station
Apologies for the poor quality of the image blighted by motion blur. Usually, this image would not have made the cut but I have very few photographs of the old Trowbridge station despite it being local to me living near to Bradford-on-Avon. This superb station, which was a modeller's delight, was tragically razed to the ground in a wanton act of vandalism inflicted by BR in 1987. It was claimed that the station was structurally dangerous and almost overnight without due agreement it was reduced to a pile of rubble. The footbridge seen in the background of this image was the only thing saved now being in use at Wiliton station on the West Somerset Railway. 33020 is the identified locomotive leading an unidentified service that I suspect was a Cardiff to Portsmouth Harbour train.
