I was intrigued to see an early Sunday morning move on RTT from Northampton to Wembley running as 6Z83. With no postings or gen, I went out before the house was stirring and saw four HST power cars! What was even better was that they returned later in the day!

Many of us more seasoned enthusiasts remember the pre-internet days when we went out to the lineside never quite knowing what would turn up. This was a little bit like this as I had no idea what the mysterious 6Z83 would turn out to be until it appeared around the curve in Roade cutting. With over seven thousand horsepower available the 09.29 Northampton Up Sidings to Wembley Yard barrier move ought not be short of go! The Railadventure HSTs in the form of 43468, 43480, 43484 and 43465 lead rake of barrier vehicles through Roade heading south for some new stock move or other of which there are many at the moment. Based in Munich, Railadventure has made a name for itself across Europe as an 'interim operator –
providing support between rollout and the start of operations' according to their website at least.

A tatty set of infrastructure wagons including some HQAH Autoballasters pass through Roade having completed overnight work on the fast lines near Wolverton. 66534 ‘OOCL Express’ leads the ensemble as the 6Y61 09.05 Hanslope to Bescot Yard that had initially gone south to Bletchley Yard for the locomotive to run round and head north again.

Having worked up earlier in the morning delivering some barrier vehicles to Wembley Yard former Grand Central (and East Coast) HST power cars 43465, 43484, 43480 and 43468 return as the 12.03 to Butterley (Midland Railway Centre). Railadventure have cornered the market when it comes to the movement of stock around the network with the former HST power cars appearing to be well suited to the job.
