Following on from the previous day's Coronation Deltic charter the locomotives and stock were captured heading back to their relative bases. Unfortunately, due to the failure of 55009 'Alycidon' on the return leg of the charter, it was tucked in behind WCR's diesel rather than leading the train as would have been more likely.

47813 & 55009 (55013), 13.25 Acton Lane Reception Sidings-Burton Ot Wetmore (5Z58, 2E), Victoria bridge
47813 leads a dead 55009 'Alycidon' doing its best to be 55013 'The Black Watch' past Victoria bridge just south of Roade. Gathered enthusiasts were hoping that the Deltic would have been leading the 13.25 Acton Lane Reception Sidings to Burton Ot Wetmore empty stock working but due to the failure (but with a subsequent restart) of 55009 at Retford the previous evening it was not to be.

66001, 11.07 Dollands Moor-DIRFT (6M45, RT), site of Roade station
Pioneer member of the Class 66 family 66001 passes the site of Roade's former station leading the 6M45 Dollands Moor to Daventry (DIRFT) water train. Twenty-five years ago 66001 arrived on the dockside at Immingham on the morning of 18.04.98 and after a brief period of testing and staff training went into service by July and the rest, as they say, is history!
