Two trains before work were of interest to me and, if the numbers out to see the second one were anything to go by, other local enthusiasts. There was the added bonus of the sun being out too!

70000, 03.30 Crewe HS-Southall Loco Services LTD (5Z70, 18E), site of Roade station Passing the site of Roade's former station, as it will have done many times in its fifteen-year mainline working career, 70000 'Britannia' makes light work of the 03.30 Crewe HS to Southall Loco Services light engine move. The next day Britannia would work Steam Dreams' The Garden of England Lunchtime Tour and The Sunset Steam Express both starting and finishing at Victoria. 90039, 07.29 London Euston-Carlisle (1Z85, 2E), Milton crossing An unadvertised private charter organised by DB Schenker was well published on the forums with considerable discussion as to what may haul the train. In the end 90039 'The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport' hauled the train and is seen passing Milton crossing near Blisworth that had left Euston at 07.29 heading for Carlisle running as 1Z85. Unfortunately, the lighting is not ideal at this location but any spot in this area is always going to be compromised due to its north to south configuration. 67005, 07.29 London Euston-Carlisle (1Z85, 2E), Milton crossing 67005 'Queens' Messenger' brings up the rear of the DB Schenker private charter as it passes Milton crossing between Roade and Blisworth. This 1Z85 charter would go to Carlisle via the Settle and Carlisle route but I am unsure as to what would haul the train over this leg of its journey. This charter had aroused a surprising amount of local interest with no fewer than three other photographers at this spot!
