I took a walk from home on this blowy and chilly morning to capture the passage of Steam Dreams’ London to Settle & Carlisle Railway charter. Unusually, it was pathed via the slow line that offered a slightly different photographic opportunity.

86101, outward leg of the London to Settle & Carlisle Railway, 06.06 London Euston-Carlisle (1Z61, RT), Victoria bridge
Making use of a new photographic position as a result of recent embankment clearance 86101 ‘Sir William Stanier FRS’ leads the outward leg of the 1Z61 London to Settle & Carlisle Railway charter past Victoria bridge just south of Roade. It makes a change to see the LSL-owned ac electric rather than the more common 86259 and also that it has been pathed via Northampton thus on the slow line. Due to a partial camera malfunction involving the touch screen, I have managed to crop the heritage Mk. I stock and 47514 (in actuality being 47853) bringing up the rear.

66526, 03.25 Garston-London Gateway (4L52, RT), Ashton Road bridge
Half catching some early morning sunshine that has escaped through some fast-moving cloud 66526 ‘Driver Steve Dunn (George)’ leads the 03.25 Garston to London Gateway Freightliner service. On this Saturday morning, the 4L52 was well loaded and fairly long with me unable to capture the rear of the train in this view partly due to my poor composition!
