I took an early morning bus trip from Holborn to North Kensington in order to view a car. On the way, I stopped briefly at Paddington. The afternoon journey home to Northampton all went as would be expected.

I took a long walk along the length of Paddington's platform one, that is without the inconvenience of a gate line barrier, to find a uniform lineup of four GWR IETs. From left to right they are.....

At a dull and grey London Euston, 350119 leaves working the 14.39 stopper service to Milton Keynes. Despite leaving over fifteen minutes before our train left Euston we still managed to pass this train before exiting the suburbs of the capital!

221117, VT 17.16 London Euston-Birmingham New Street (9G35, 1E), London Euston station
With mileage accumulation runs about to commence the Class 805 bi-mode units should soon be in operation on the WCML and finally ousting the dreadful Voyagers from the route. The first sets of the Class 221s have already been returned to their owners in anticipation of this change but a number remain in service for the moment. 221117 stands in the gloom at Euston which will work the 9G35 17.16 service to Birmingham later in the afternoon.
