On a typically foggy November day, I ventured to Roade cutting to capture the passage of The Northern Belle charter carrying passengers from Liverpool to Euston.

This particular locomotive was one of Virgin's Thunderbirds converted from 47330 in 2003 after having had a brief spell as 47390 between 1994 and 1995. The converted Class 47 is instantly recognisable as one of Virgin's former Thunderbirds by virtue of the emergency Delinier coupling covered up by the yellow bagging. Out of sight in the fog 57312 'Solway Princess' leads the train that was carrying passengers who could enjoy an afternoon in London upon their arrival at Euston.
