Before we took an afternoon trip to Cromer I walked down to Weybourne station. The weather was not as nice as it had been for the previous couple of days but they had been pretty perfect by autumn standards!

M56352 and M51192 work the 09.45 Sheringham to Holt North Norfolk Railway service on the climb to Kelling Heath through Weybourne woods. Despite being the first service train of the day on the popular heritage line and being worked by a diesel unit it appears to be well-patronised testament to the popularity of this line.

The 09.45 Sheringham to Holt service passes through Weybourne woods on the climb towards Kelling Heath worked by M56352 and M51192. It has just passed the thirty-nine and three-quarters milepost, the distance to Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway's junction with the Great Eastern at King's Lyn.

D6732 & D5631, stabled, Weybourne yard
A sea of British Railways green liveries at Weybourne Yard in the form of D6732 and D5631. Both these locomotives are quite at home in Norfolk always being associated with the railways in the county over the years. Whilst the North Norfolk Railway is best known and associated with steam hauled services they have a strong fleet of heritage diesel that is becoming an increasingly significant part of their heritage traction 'mix'.

D5631, stabeld & 92203, 10.30 Sheringham-Holt, Weybourne station
The run into Weybourne station from the east is a little tricky for drivers. Up until a short distance from the station, the line is climbing steadily so the locomotives have to still be under power until just beyond where I have placed the train in this photograph. It shows 9F 92203 'Black Prince' leading the 10.30 Sheringham to Holt service. To the left in the depot yard D5631 and a former Class 11 shunter number 12131.

A fine study of 9F 92203 'Black Prince' as it makes its final approach to Weybourne station leading the 10.30 Sheringham to Holt North Norfolk Railway service. In this view, the bulk of the locomotive can really be appreciated with its twenty by twenty right inch cylinders and its huge five feet diameter driving wheels. To the left of the train is Class 31 D5631 that looks very smart in its British Railways green livery.

Having observed the 10.30 Sheringham to Holt train hauled by 9F 92203 'Black Prince' arrive at Weybourne station I quickly walked to the west of the station to grab another photograph of it leaving and commencing the climb of Kelling bank. Unfortunately, I had not bargained for it being in the shade thinking that the sun would have been a little higher in the sky. I rapidly opted for this more unusual wide-angled view to expose the sky and the sea correctly and to include the towering exhaust. I then spent some time in Photoshop bringing the detail back to the locomotive and the lovely foreground largely made up of the bracken (Pteridium) dying back displaying its superb autumn colour.

92203 'Black Prince' approaches Weybourne leading the 12.00 Sheringham to Holt NNR service. With images that can include such things as the sea in the background and the remnants of the vintage fence in the foreground, this heritage line offers some perfect photographic opportunities for the railway photgrapher.

M56352 & M51192, 12.00 Holt-Sheringham, Weybourne TG122424
One of the North Norfolk Railway's resident Class 101 DMUs leaves Weybourne working the 12.00 Holt to Sheringham service. Luckily the sun has been partially covered by a veil of high cloud drifting in from the west otherwise this image would have been horribly backlit. Notice the Weybourne home signal with its sighting board installed for the reason that I have just described!
