Our family walk to Sheringham was on a bit of a grey day but at least it was mild! As usual, I left my wife and son sampling the delights of the North Norfolk town and walked back to get the car.

44767, 10.30 Sheringam-Holt, Weybourne station
Resident Back 5 44767 'George Stephenson' arrives at Weybourne station leading the 10.30 Sheringham to Holt train, the first steam working of the day on the North Norfolk Railway. To the left A1A-A1A D5631 is stabled in the bay.

A classic scene at Weybourne station from the rake of Mk. 1 maroon stock, the wrought iron footbridge, the Class 101 DMU to the superb reproduction gas lamp! The station is a faithful recreation of an M&GN country station set about 1910 and a fine job has been made of it. In this scene, the 10.30 Sheringham to Holt service is about to get underway with the 10.30 Holt to Sheringham being worked by M56352 and M51192.

M56352 & M51192, 10.30 Holt-Sheringham, Weybourne station
Looking a little faded now after doing a number of years' worth of faithful service on the North Norfolk Railway one of their resident DMUs formed from M56352 and M51192 waits at Weybourne station to work the 10.30 Holt to Sheringham service on a busy Sunday morning. Just visible under the bridge Black 5 44767 'George Stephenson' is just getting the 10.30 Sheringham to Holt train away.

I am not a fan of tender first photographs but when framed by two superb GNR somersault signals such as these it's worthwhile! Black 5 44767 'George Stephenson' arrives at Weybourne easing the 11.15 Holt to Sheringham into the station whilst the footplate crew look on carfully!

M51192 leads M56352 away from Weybourne station working the 11.15 Sheringham to Holt train. First-generation DMUs are the mainstay of many heritage lines being relatively cheap, convenient and easy to operate whilst at the same time being sufficiently, for want of a better word, 'quaint' in the eyes of the visiting public. It's also interesting to note that in some cases they are actually older than the steam trains in operation on a particular day. For example, as is the case when the NNR is operating the 9F 92220 'Black Prince'.

44767, 12.00 Holt-Sheringham & dining train, Oak Wood TG133426
The North Norfolkman dining train climbs towards Weybourne away from the coast led by Black 5 44767 'Geroge Stephenson'. The photograph is taken from a footpath that runs next to the A149 coast road near to Oak Wood that is part of the Sheringham Park estate.

44767, 14.14 Holt-Sheringham & dining train, North End Hollow TG144432
44767 'George Stephenson' leads the final leg of The North Norfolkman dining train as it approaches Sheringham with the 14.14 ex Holt. The train is seen passing Sheringham's fixed distant signal with the golf club in the background. This dining train is a good revenue generator for the railway and runs regularly on Sunday's throughout the season. The NNR simply add three dining cars to their scheduled service train and bring in a crew to treat customers to a slap-up four-course meal at a price of course!

44767, 15.00 Sheringham-Holt & 12131, Weybourne yard
Having had its dining train cars removed at Sheringham Black 5 44767 'George Stephenson' leads the final country bound locomotive hauled service of the day into Weybourne. The 15.00 Sheringham to Holt will then return to Sheringham for the last time on this day. The train is passing one of the North Norfolk Railway's resident shunters 12131 that dates from 1952 working throughout its life on the Eastern Region until moving to Kent's Snowdown colliery near Dover from where it entered preservation in 1982.

12131, stabled, Weybourne yard
With a very grey North Sea in the background 1952 built Class 11 shunter 12131 sits stabled in Weybourne's yard. Notice the rather aged Ford tractor sitting on the low loader behind the shunter. The tractor is used along the length of the line to cut the embankments with its extending arm in an effort to reduce lineside problems, Network Rail please take note!

The 15.00 Holt to Sheringham North Norfolk Railway service leaves Weybourne passing one of its superb GNR somersault wooden signals. Whilst M56352 and M51192 head east towards Sheringham the balancing working towards Holt can be seen climbing toward Kelling Heath through the trees with 44767 'George Stephenson' leading.
