Whilst attending a local car show at the Milton Keynes Museum in nearby Wolverton I nipped out for a decent coffee and a couple of railway photographs as the sun was out. I had a minor camera malfunction that was entirely my own fault. I have included the errant image as a reminder to me and others to check settings in that time that we have whilst waiting for a particular train!

Access track, Wolverton works
With a building that was once part of the mighty Wolverton Works in the background now in use by a haulage company the single access line into the remains of the Works is seen. In this view, looking south towards the tunnel that goes under the up and down fast lines, a disused and rather sad looking loading gauge can be seen still standing.

Access track, Wolverton works
The building to the right was once part of the Wolverton Works complex and now suffers from the ignominy of being the base for the spares' department of a white goods company! The line in the foreground is a long headshunt that permits trains to then reverse into the remains of the Works a short distance around the curve beyond the overbridge.

66429, 10.38 DIRFT-Tilbury (4L48, 2L), Wolverton station
Running a little late after a lengthy and complicated diversion away from the Northampton line due to engineering works the Sunday 4L48 DIRFT to Tilbury 'Tesco Express' passes Wolverton at speed! Regular DRS performer 66429 is leading the train that crossed from the fast to the slow line a short distance north of this location at Hanslope Junction.

Wolverton station
The hugely controversial and massively over-budget Wolverton station building is seen in the warm afternoon sunshine. This is the fourth station building on this site with this one opening over a year late back in the spring of 2013. Despite all the wrangling between Network Rail, London Midland and Milton Keynes Council the building is an attractive affair with its hipped roof incorporating some fake vents in a nod to the design of the nearby Works. There had been calls for a decent station building worthy of such a historic town (rail wise anyway!) since Network SouthEast demolished the 1882 structure without any warning back in 1991 causing a massive row.

37884, 12.07 Derby RTC-Wembley HS (0H72, 14E), Blue bridge
I had set up and planned this unusual reverse photograph of the 0H72 12.07 Derby to Wembley light engine move and sat and waited for it for half an hour. However, as can be seen, despite all my planning, it did not work as I had failed to notice that the camera's memory card was full. I managed two 'burst' photographs before the shutter stopped firing with a bleep from the camera! I have included the image of 37884 'Cepheus' as a reminder to always check all the camera's settings prior to pressing the shutter; all others out there to take note too!
