350105, LM 16.34 London Euston-Birmingham New Street (2Y38), London Euston station
Our train home from London waits at Euston to work the 16.34 service to Birmingham New Street. We took 350105 working a rather crowded 2Y38 stopper as far as Milton Keynes.

90020, stabled, Wembley Yard
90020 'Collingwood' is seen in the afternoon sunshine stabled in Wembley yard as we pass on our journey north. Notice the heavily graffitied Cargo Waggons (sic) behind the Class 90 that will be forming either the up or down bottled water train that runs between the continent and Daventry using the tunnel.

90019 & 92003, stabled, Wembley Yard
Catching some pleasant afternoon sunshine in Wembley Yard 90019 in its smart First Group livery contrasts with the ageing paint scheme applied to 92003 'Beethoven'. The Class 92 has worn the triple grey livery since its introduction to service exactly thirty years ago. There is much speculation surrounding these powerful and hugely underused locomotives with talk of this one and a number of others heading back to Europe where there appears to be more work for them.

66192, stabled, Wembley Yard
With the gable roof of Willesden Carriage Shed North signal box just appearing above the roof of 66192 we race past on our journey back to Milton Keynes. I have not been able to discover what train the Class 66 was working but there is an occasional diverted empty car train down the WCML from Southampton on a Sunday afternoon that would normally travel via the Oxford and Banbury GW route so I can only assume that it is this....advice anybody?

Return tickets, Milton Keynes Central-London Euston-Milton Keynes Central
Our ridiculously cheap return tickets from Milton Keynes to Euston came in at just over £20 for all three of us. Yes, that was with a family railcard and on booked trains but nonetheless it only proves that competitive fares are out there if one takes a little time to plan ahead!
