In between chores at home I nipped out in the early afternoon to photograph the passage of a Class 68 near home. I am not a particular fan of photographing light engine moves but with the class being so new I made the extra effort.

66504, 09.32 Felixstowe North-Crewe Basford Hall (4M88), Victoria bridge In some welcome warm summer sunshine 66504 passes Victoria bridge just south of Roade leading the 09.32 Felixstowe to Basford Hall Freightliner. I think that this version of Freightliner's livery that was applied last year looks very smart and keeps the Class 66s looking good despite that this particular example is now fifteen years old. Just think what a state some of the first generation BR diesels were in back in the early 1980s that were then the same age. Class 221, VT 13.10 London Euston-Chester (1D87), Victoria bridge A single Class 221 Voyager passes under Victoria bridge just south of the village of Roade working Virgin's 13.10 Euston to Chester 1D87 service. 350110, LM 13.12 Northampton-London Euston (cancelled from Birmingham New Street), (1W14), Victoria bridge Following issues in the Birmingham area earlier in the morning, a number of London Midland services were subject to delay, cancellations or alteration. One example affected was this one being worked by 350110 that should have originated from Birmingham New Street. Instead, it was re-timetabled to become the 13.12 Northampton to Euston. Notice this set has its centre two coaches painted in a slightly different livery that contains a 'Project 110' vinyl that was applied earlier this year. 350119, LM 12.02 Crewe-London Euston (1U80), Victoria bridge Avoiding all the problems in the Birmingham area by travelling via the Trent Valley route from Colwich Junction 350119 passes just south of Roade working the 12.02 Crewe to Euston service. 68002, 12.33 Wembley Yard-Crewe Gresty Bridge LE (0Z68), Victoria bridge This is my first photograph of 68002 'Intrepid' since its introduction earlier this year. Still wearing its smart and shiny paintwork it is seen passing Victoria bridge between Roade and Ashton on the southern WCML running as 0Z68 the 12.33 Wembley to Crewe Gresty Bridge light engine. I am not at all sure if I like the look of these new Vossloh Espaņa built locomotives finding them a little clumsy in their design.
