321414, LM 11.47 Milton Keynes Central-London Euston (2K26), Milton Keynes Central station
321414 is one of a small number of 'dusty bins' that have been retained by London Midland that have been repainted into their corporate colours. They are used to supplement peak-time services and to work 'local' stopper services between Milton Keynes and Euston. At Milton Keynes, the 11.47 service waits to depart for the capital running as 2K26. This train will stop at virtually every station between the two places and will thus take considerably over an hour and a half, a distance covered by a Virgin service in twenty-five minutes!

390141, VT 10.15 Manchester Piccadilly-London Euston (1A22), Milton Keynes Central station
390141 'City of Chester' arrives at Milton Keynes station with the 10.15 Manchester to Euston Virgin service. Many passengers will elect to take a Virgin service to the capital with a journey time of some twenty-five minutes rather than the London Midland services with their longer journey times and inferior stock.

66569, 10.08 Lawley Street-Felixstowe North (4L93), Milton Keynes Central station
The passage of freight workings through Milton Keynes is always a dramatic moment as they are running a fair old rate and anybody standing on the narrow platforms complete with their baggage can be somewhat exposed as the boxes pass with the consequential and substantial drafting. 66569 is doing just that as it passes through platform one leading the 4L93 10.08 Lawley Street to Felixstowe Freightliner service.

221107, VT 08.55 Holyhead-London Euston (1A23), Milton Keynes Central station
221107 comes to a halt at Milton Keynes station working the 1A23 08.55 Holyhead to Euston train. Looking at the very cloudy sky it appears that I have been very lucky to get the train in full sun even if this side of the Voyager is the wrong side for the sun!

350112, LM 10.02 Crewe-London Euston (1U26), Milton Keynes Central station
My wife waits as 350112 comes to a halt at Milton Keynes station working the 10.02 Crewe to Euston service following the announcer's advice to stay well back from the platform edge! We took this train to London.

57302, stabled Thunderbird, London Euston station
57302 'Chad Varah' sits on the stops at London Euston acting as a stabled Thunderbird for Virgin Trains. Back in the 1970s this was one of my most recorded Class 47s being one of Western Region's 'namers'. Then it was numbered 47081 and named 'Odin'. So far, I have not managed to upload any images from that time on to my website but there are plenty more images to come!

378229 & 378211, unidentified workings, London Euston station
On arrival back at Euston at just before midnight two London Overground Class 378s were seen on the blocks at the station. Unfortunately, I was unable to identify the workings that 378229 and 378211 were due to work. Being so late in the evening it could have been that the two units were going to be stabled until heading north early the next morning?

350117, LM 23.04 London Euston-Northampton (2N33), London Euston station
Keeping passengers waiting on a platform late at night (or at any time for that matter) is not one of the modern railway's finest aspects! The doors of our return train from London to Milton Keynes were kept firmly out of use until just a few minutes before we departed at 23.04 and by that time there were a lot of passengers waiting on the platform to board the single set train. 350117 will work the 23.04 2N33 stopper to Northampton.
