As we opted to leave Northampton prior to the 09.30 start of the ticket validation (as we used our two-together cards for discount) Andy and I paid for a single to Rugby from Northampton.

Having travelled from Northampton aboard 350370 and 350236 the pair of Desiros leave Rugby station continuing on as the 06.12 Euston to Birmingham New Street. As it was too early for the West Midlands Day Ranger tickets to be valid Andy and I had to buy tickets for this leg of our day out.

Andy and I had to purchase a pair of anytime day singles at £9.80 each in order to get ourselves to Rugby from Northampton prior to our West Midlands day Ranger tickets becoming valid at 09.30. This would normally happen at 09.00 but as we bought the Day Rangers with a Two-Together railcard discount this changed to 09.30. For a nineteen mile journey, this was particularly expensive at 52p/mile!
