I took the opportunity of delivering a customer's car to Wellingborough to capture an HST on the penultimate day of HST operations on the Midland Mainline. Unfortunately, like most of May 2021, the weather was appalling with it being cold, wet and very dull but the event overcame the conditions!

On the penultimate day of HST operations on the Midland Main Line, the 05.19 Leeds to St. Pancras 1C15 service works hard as it ascends towards Sharnbrook summit past the village of Wymington in Bedfordshire. With a blow of the horn from the waving driver as it passes, 43309 leads the train. I have photographed this power car many times, in happier days, for example...... https://www.ontheupfast.com/p/21936chg/25778360204/x43309-14-52-aberdeen-london-king

I had been monitoring the movement of the 0C60 light engine move on RTT accepting that it would be too late for me to wait for as I had to deliver a customer's car to a garage for work. However, I suddenly became aware that it had missed a layover stop at Kettering and that it was now early. I took a small detour on the way back to the car through a very wet field to the up slow lines near Wymington just managing to capture 47749 'City of Truro' running the 07.38 Leicester LIP to Cricklewood light engine move.
